Brow Lift in Colombia: Endoscopic & Temporal Options

Brow ptosis — the gradual descent of the eyebrows below the orbital rim — creates a tired, heavy, or angry appearance that no amount of concealer or eye cream can fix. It's often confused with upper-eyelid excess (which is addressed by blepharoplasty), but the treatment is different: a brow lift repositions the eyebrow itself, while blepharoplasty removes eyelid skin. Many patients need both — and getting the diagnosis right determines the result.

When You Need a Brow Lift

Signs that brow ptosis (not just eyelid aging) is the issue: your eyebrows sit at or below the orbital rim bone, you unconsciously raise your eyebrows to see better (recruiting the frontalis muscle), you have deep horizontal forehead lines from constantly lifting your brows, your upper eyelids appear heavy despite having minimal true eyelid skin excess, and the heaviness is worse at the lateral (outer) brow — the tail of the eyebrow droops below the inner brow.

A simple test: stand in front of a mirror and manually lift your eyebrows to where they used to sit. If your eyes look dramatically more open and your face looks more refreshed, a brow lift will produce a significant result.

Techniques Compared

Endoscopic Brow Lift

The endoscopic technique is the most commonly performed brow lift today. Through 3–5 small incisions (each about 1–2 cm) hidden behind the hairline, the surgeon inserts an endoscope (camera) and surgical instruments. The forehead tissue is released from the underlying bone, the brow is elevated to its new position, and it's secured with absorbable fixation devices (endotines) or sutures anchored to the bone.

Advantages: minimal scarring, shorter recovery than open techniques, and the ability to selectively address the corrugator muscles (the muscles that create "11" frown lines between the brows). The main limitation: it can raise the hairline slightly, which may not be ideal for patients with already-high foreheads.

Temporal (Lateral) Brow Lift

The temporal or lateral brow lift is a more focused procedure that addresses only the outer (lateral) portion of the brow — the area that tends to droop most and contributes to the "hooded" appearance at the outer corners of the eyes. It's less invasive than a full endoscopic lift, has a shorter recovery, and is often combined with upper blepharoplasty for a comprehensive upper-face rejuvenation.

This is a good option for patients whose central brow position is acceptable but whose lateral brows have descended, creating a tired or sad expression.

Recovery & Results

Swelling and bruising are concentrated around the forehead and eyes for the first 5–7 days. Most patients are presentable (with makeup) at 10–14 days. Final results emerge at 2–3 months as swelling resolves and tissues settle into their new position. Numbness or altered sensation behind the incision lines is common and typically resolves over 3–6 months.

Results last 7–12 years on average — the brow will gradually descend again with continued aging, but from a higher starting position than before surgery.
